A NEW IDEA IN HOLIDAYS

At Urra we would like to host shared interest holidays for individuals or couples to spend a week sharing their enthusiasms.
We envisage weeks mainly booked by people with an overriding interest in, for example, bird watching (mid April), botanizing (March), stargazing (August), photography..., sketching..., painting..., walking.... As our customer base increases we anticipate these shared interest holidays will become regular calendar fixtures.

Urra is a haven for a wide variety of interesting bird species, including hoopoes (pictured), bee-eaters, rollers and the exotic greater spotted cuckoos. Cabo de Gata wetlands (40 mins drive away) is well known for flamingos, avocets, etc...

The night sky at Urra can be truly stunning, with clear skies, low atmospheric pollution, and low (but unfortunately increasing) levels of light pollution, we have our own telescope. In addition, Calar Alto, a German/Spanish observatory containing the largest telescope on mainland Europe is only an hour's drive away. Visits can be arranged.

Springtime can be a riot of colour. Many people enjoy the orchids, but more exciting are the several species unique to SE Almeria including our own rock rose and narcissus, (as pictured).
